A welcoming neighbourhood space for BD3, Peel Park and City Ward — created in partnership with InCommunities.
Chatham Street is a former community centre now being brought back into use as a cycling‑friendly community hub. We’re in the early stages of developing the venue, working with local residents and partners to shape a space for learning, riding, repairing, sharing food and building connections. As the project grows, more evening activities and community events will be added — watch this space.
What We’re Working On
Current Projects:
- E‑Bike Library — free e‑bike loans available from Chatham Street, supporting everyday cycling, wellbeing and low‑cost travel. Get 1:1 support with cycling training.
- Hop‑On Partnership — a local cycling organisation delivering regular sessions at Peel Park, helping families and young people build confidence on bikes. Visit Hop‑On: hopon.bike
- Wednesday open evenings — relaxed drop‑ins with bike maintenance, food and social activities.
Alongside these, we’re developing a wider programme of community‑led activities, small projects and social events that will roll out over the coming months.
What Happens Here
- Cycling information — adult lessons, family cycling, group rides and basic repairs.
- Community events — film nights, talks, cultural activities and small community projects.
- A meeting space for local groups (bookable to members, and so far used by BMX Bandits and more)
- Local partnerships — including working with Hop‑On, inspired by Bradford Moor PASS and supported by WYCA and Bradford Council’s Active Travel teams.
Why It Matters
We want Chatham Street to become a friendly, accessible space where cycling supports health, confidence, connection and sustainable travel. It’s a growing hub for residents, families and local organisations — and a place where new ideas can take shape.
Get Involved
