Mon 26th October – Bikeability Level 1 (Ages 10-12)

Aimed at school aged kids (ages 10-12). We would also consider kids 9-13 if there are enough places). All kit is provided but you need to bring a face mask and if you have one, your own helmet.

About the course

The Bikeability Level 1 course aims to develop mastery in cycle handling in an off-road environment and prepare riders for cycling on the road. Riders must be able to cycle (i.e. pedal and glide at a basic level) to participate in Bikeability Level 1.

AT LEVEL 1 RIDERS:

  • Prepare themselves for a journey
  • Check the cycle is ready for a journey
  • Set off, pedal, slow down and stop
  • Pedal (including looking behind, cycling one handed, turning and controlling speed)

Sessions will be limited to five pupils and are bookable at 10am, 1pm and 3pm. They last approximately two hours. Please drop-off and collect promptly. Due to Covid restrictions, parents and family members won’t be allowed to join the sessions. Please wear a mask and use hand-sanitiser on entry.

We are also planning to run Level 2 sessions on Thursday or Friday of the same week. Students who successfully complete Level 1 will be able to attend these sessions. They will need to bring their own bike to the Level 2 sessions or arrange to borrow one.
